Miranda Lambert Unveils New Song, “Scars,” Following a Rough Year
“I was never damaged enough to sing a song called ‘Scars,’” she says.
Miranda Lambert performed a special, acoustic Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars show at Nashville’s City Winery on Jan. 20, trading tunes with songwriter pals like Ashley Monroe, Nicole Galyon and Shane McAnally, and also unveiling at least one new song—a tormented weeper called “Scars.”
Written years ago by MIranda’s friend and longtime guitarist Scotty Wray, the superstar cited her divorce from fellow country star Blake Shelton as her insipration for singing the song in a video posted by Entertainment Tonight.
"[Scotty and I] both had a really, really shitty year in 2015, and we have tattoos to prove it.," she says from the stage. “I was never damaged enough to sing a song called ‘Scars.’ It’s something you have to sell and really feel and really live.”
There’s no word on whether or not “Scars” will become Miranda’s next single, but her Keeper of the Flame Tour—featuring special guests Kip Moore and Brothers Osborne—kicks off March 7 at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. She’ll also join Kenny Chesney for select dates of his Spread the Love Tour this summer.
