Miranda Dishes on New Pistol Annies Album

Singer also praises pal Ashley Monroe.

Annies fans, rejoice! With the news earlier this week that the second album from Pistol Annies—Annie Up—would be released May 7, followers of the throwback trio have been marking their calendars. (We know we have.)

Made up of Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley, Pistol Annies just released their new single, “Hush Hush,” to radio. Miranda told Country Weekly recently that the album as a whole still maintains the old-school sound of their 2011 debut, Hell on Heels, but is a bit more unique.

“It sounds different than the first one,” she says, adding that the existence of a second Annies album may be a bit of a surprise to some. “People were probably thinking that the first record would be our only one, but now that we have a second one, we’re very excited about it. We hope people love it as much as the first one, 'cause we sure do.”

Miranda is equally excited about fellow Annie Ashley Monroe’s album, Like a Rose. “I love it. I loved her as a solo artist from the second I heard her. I think she’s amazing and I am glad she has new music out there for people to hear,” Miranda praises. “She’s an awesome artist and an incredible singer and writer.”
