MINDY NOT GUILTY OF DUI

Mindy McCready was found not guilty of her DUI charge after a Nashville jury deliberated for five hours, Wednesday, July 19.

The jury decided that Mindy was not driving drunk in the Belle Meade section of Nashville May 6, 2005, when she was pulled over by police for speeding. Mindy failed a field sobriety test, but explained to the jury that she tripped while taking the test. A friend also testified that Mindy had not had much to drink the night of her arrest.

Mindy was found guilty of driving with a suspended license, however.

“This is the first step in getting past a lot of things, a lot of mistakes,” Mindy said afterward.
