Mindy McCready on the Run

Has son Zander in tow.

Authorities have filed a missing persons report for country artist Mindy McCready and her son, Zander, according to various media reports. Family members say Mindy took 5-year-old Zander from her father's home in Lee County, Fla., in the last several days.

Investigators and family members have told Ft. Myers, Fla., television station WINK that Mindy took her son and left Lee County. Now that a missing persons report has been filed, Mindy has until Thursday (Dec. 1) to return with her son or she'll be arrested.

According to court records, Mindy does not have legal custody of Zander—her mother does—and the singer was allowed to visit the boy at her father's home, according to a department spokesman.

Late Tuesday night (Nov. 29) Mindy posted a Facebook message saying, "My son is not missing," and that "police established that this afternoon via Skype," according to the Associated Press.

"I have been fighting the Florida court system to protect my son, and bring him home," she writes. "Please do not worry."

The singer's brother, Josh McCready, told the Associated Press in a private Facebook message that his sister was "fine."

"Mindy is fine and so is Zander. There is nothing to worry about," he wrote.

Originally known for her 1996 hits "Ten Thousand Angels" and "Guys Do It All The Time," Mindy's recent fame has hinged on myriad legal troubles, tabloid articles and drug addiction issues.
