Mindy McCready Arrested . . . Again
Long-troubled singer Mindy McCready has been charged with assaulting her mother and resisting arrest.
Mindy allegedly scratched her mother on the face during an argument on Saturday, July 21, leading Fort Myers, Fla., police to investigate. Officers say they were forced to fight her to the ground to handcuff her. Mindy claims police roughed her up during the arrest, during which she was holding her infant son, Zander. “There was no reason for it,” Mindy, 31, told the Fort Myers News-Press. “To take down a woman holding a baby, it’s just not right.” She claims her nose was broken during the incident.
Police say that Mindy caused another disturbance while being booked at the Lee County Jail, and was subdued with a pepper-spray-like agent. Mindy posted $1,000 bail and was released Saturday evening. Her court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 14.
It’s just the latest in a long line of troubles for the singer, who enjoyed 1990s hits with “Ten Thousand Angels” and “Guys Do It All the Time.” Since 2004, she has been charged with fraudulently obtaining prescription drugs, drunk driving and a probation violation; her onetime boyfriend was charged with trying to kill her; and she has twice attempted suicide.
