Friday morning (March 14), Mel Tillis was released from the TriStar Centennial Heart & Vascular Center in Nashville, where he had been recovering from last weekend’s heart surgery.

Mel’s daughter, country singer Pam Tillis, released a statement to the press after he left the hospital saying her legendary father was in good shape and good spirits.

“Dad is doing great and is happy to be leaving the hospital in time to catch today’s Florida vs. Missouri game,” she said.

Mel is expected to be back on the road soon and is set to release new music later in the year.
