Marty Stuart previewed his upcoming new album, Ghost Train: The Studio B Sessions, at a listening party for media and invited guests at the famed Studio B in Nashville yesterday (June 9). Marty recorded the album at the historic studio and told guests that Studio B was the location of his first-ever session. That took place in the early 1970s, when Marty was playing mandolin in Lester Flatt's band. Guests listened to all 14 tracks on the album, which features two songs written by Marty and his wife, Connie Smith, "I Run to You" and "A World Without You." Ghost Train also includes the atmospheric "Hangman," which Marty wrote with Johnny Cash just four days prior to Johnny's death on Sept. 12, 2003.

The album is set for release on Aug. 24. "This is real, traditional country music," Marty told the assembled crowd. "I have been very interested in preserving traditional country music because it's the music that still touches my heart. It's too precious to let slip away."
