Luke Bryan Says “It Sucks” That Women Aren’t Being Played More on Country Radio

“It’s always been pretty damn crummy” for ladies on country radio, Luke says.

It’s tough out there for a girl to have a hit on country radio these days. On a recent Top 25 country hits chart, 19 songs were by men. And even one of the chart’s most popular guys doesn’t like it.

“I do think it sucks, but I don’t know what I can do,” Luke Bryan tells Entertainment Weekly.

“I mean, it’s a weird phenomenon. What’s funny is that the majority of listeners are females, but then you’d feel like they would want to hear women too,” he said.

“I think historically it’s always been that way a little bit. It feels like now is the toughest time ever for women, but I would imagine it’s always been pretty damn crummy.”
