Love and Theft Tries to Write Tattoo-Worthy Lyrics

“People . . . doing something that’s permanent like that, I mean, it’s an honor,” Eric says.

The guys in Love and Theft ("Angel Eyes") have lots of tattoos, and Eric Gunderson and Stephen Barker Liles have noticed something interesting about some of their fans. They have been getting Love and Theft lyrics tattooed on their bodies.

“I like to think all my tattoos definitely mean something, so to see people making that kind of commitment and doing something that’s permanent like that, I mean, it’s an honor,” Eric told reporters recently.

“But it also goes to show you, man, whatever I put out, whatever we release, it affects people in a big . . . a big, big way, and luckily everything we’ve put out has affected people in a positive way so far.”

Of course, that whole tattoo thing adds a little pressure!

“You’re kind of challenged almost to keep putting out good, positive music, and people will . . . stuff that people are gonna relate to, in one way or another, because you never know [laughs] . . . never know what someone’s gonna go out there and get tattooed on ’em,” Eric said.
