Earlier this month, LoCash Cowboys—Chris Lucas and Preston Brust—spent an afternoon at Franklin Road Academy in Nashville, where they filmed a powerful new video for their latest single, “Best Seat in the House.”

The song is a very personal one for both Chris and Preston, as it was penned after Chris’ father passed away in 2011. The tune walks the listener through several stages of the life of the main character, who always has his father close by watching from “the best seat in the house,” even after his father leaves the earth.

“Obviously this is a very emotional video to me, and I had a few moments that really took me back,” Chris tells Country Weekly.

Chris and Preston took to the school’s football field for their B-role parts, part of a narrative depicting an emotional relationship between a father and a son, which follows a touching football story line created by director Potsy Ponciroli, who also directed the duo’s last three music videos.

“I was very intrigued with bringing in the football story line, since football was such a huge part of my life growing up,” notes Chris. “I think it’s a cool take on the video. We could have gone several directions, but this had kind of a movie feel.”

“Potsy nailed a powerful and emotional story line,” adds Preston. “We’ve always trusted in him and his direction, and he proved to be the right director once again.”

The video was shot at sunset and went well into the evening hours to really capture the feel they were going for.

“I think what we shot is going to be powerful,” Preston explains. “We wanted this song to stand out and speak to people. I think the story line reflects what we wanted to do. I think when you have a song this meaningful and this powerful and this real, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on wardrobes and all the other things. I think you can shoot something real and honest, and it can resonate on camera. We are so proud of this video, and I think it’s something that Chris’ dad is proud of, too. I think his dad definitely had the ‘best seat in the house’ watching us film this video.”

“All in all,” concludes Chris, “we all believe our loved ones that have passed on are watching us still from the ‘best seat in the house.’”

“Best Seat in the House” is the latest single from the LoCash Cowboys’ self-titled debut album on Average Joes Entertainment. The duo will kick off their Livin’ Loud Tour tour in December, and it will continue on throughout 2014.
