Little Big Town Says Fan Inspired Lady Gaga Cover

The group wants to cover an Adele song.

Little Big Town had the web buzzing with a recent video of a bluegrass-tinged version of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” Little Big Town member Karen Fairchild tells CountryWeekly.com that the idea to cover the song wasn’t originally theirs. “A fan had the idea of us covering Gaga, because it was a challenge of ‘Do you think you can make Gaga country?’” she says. “So it just came out of brainstorming. We thought, well, if we’re really going to do it, we’ve got to do upright bass and banjo, 'cause Gaga did not only her pop version but a country version that had really bluesy electric guitar. It was cool, but we thought, gosh, let’s really strip it down.”

The video was part of the group’s Scattered, Smothered and Covered series, and the group's Jimi Westbook says they've got plenty more ideas. “There’s a long list," he says, "even going way back and doing old songs." Bandmate Kimberly Schlapman agrees: “We’ll keep doing them until people don’t want to hear them anymore.”

Karen even gave CW a peek into the next cover video to expect from the group. “We’re doing some Adele this week,” she reveals. “That’ll be the next one.” Listen to their cover of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep.”
