From ghoulies and ghosties and hairy ballerinas and things that go bump in the night . . . Wait. What?

Yes, a few hairy ballerinas (and some not so hairy) were part of the guest list for Lee Ann Womack and hit producer husband Frank Liddell’s annual Halloween bash, held recently in Nashville. The yearly soiree has welcomed superstar celebs like Reba McEntire and Brooks & Dunn in the past—all in costume—and this year was no exception with Danica Patrick and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (or at least guests who dressed as the racing stars) dropping by. But it was a corps of mismatched folks in toe shoes that got the biggest giggle with their front-yard performance as the “I Hope You Dance-ers.”

“I’ve just always liked Halloween,” says Lee Ann. “It’s not too serious. You can play to your other ‘selves,’ or be someone else altogether. And there’s plenty of mystery to go around.”

In addition to the usual tricks and treats, with much of Music Row in attendance, it wasn’t a big surprise when an impromptu singalong broke out and continued into the witching hour.
