Reid was critically injured in a May 2004 mortar attack that claimed the lives of five men and left 34 seriously wounded. He sustained severe brain injury and paralysis to the left side of his body. Despite countless surgeries and being wheelchair-bound, Reid and his wife, Michelle, are committed to finding ways to help fellow wounded service members.
