LeAnn Rimes declared Wednesday evening (July 7) that she’s taking a break from Twitter.
“It’s unhealthy for me and my family to have to read negative comments from people who’s opinions have no bearing on my life,” she tweeted.
The decision comes after LeAnn got some backlash after posting updates on her relationship with actor Eddie Cibrian (CSI: Miami), a relationship that reportedly began while both were married to others.
Many of the Twitter posts are downright nasty, with several followers calling LeAnn a homewrecker and even more derogatory labels.
“I hope you understand,” LeAnn wrote. “It’s time for me to focus on healing, my happiness and my music.”
LeAnn promised to “return one day soon.”
LeAnn isn’t the first young singer to ditch Twitter because of a relationship with a boy. Miley Cyrus bolted last year after rumors about her and The Last Song co-star Liam Hemsworth. “FYI Liam doesn’t have a Twitter and he wants ME to delete mine with good reason,” Miley wrote at the time.
