Lauren Alaina’s a Nice Tipper
She hated to see the waitress cry.
Lauren Alaina recently returned to her old after-school job at CiCi's Pizza restaurant in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., to film a segment of the GAC series Day Jobs. While shooting her segment, she was reminded of the hard work it takes to keep a restaurant running smoothly. "People think it's easy to work in a restaurant, but it's not," she notes to CountryWeekly.com. "It can be very stressful."
She also knows what it's like to get stiffed on a tip. "My mom was a waitress when I was a little girl, and people would not tip sometimes and I would see her cry," says the 16-year-old singer. "So, I tip better than just about anybody I know. I bet people in my town love it when they see me walk through the door."
The images of her mom came back to Lauren when she recently visited a restaurant in another city. "I don't remember where it was, honestly, but I saw this girl who was about 18 who was waiting on a table of about 20 people," Lauren says. "Later on, I saw her crying and I asked our waitress what was wrong. She said that the people at that table got up and didn't leave her a tip. I felt so bad, because I used to see that happening to my mom. So, I handed the girl about 60 dollars. People just shouldn't do that to a waitress," Lauren adds. "Those servers work very hard all day long and they depend on those tips."
Look for Lauren's Day Jobs segment to air soon on GAC. In the meantime, you can catch her out on the road with Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan on Jason's My Kinda Party Tour. She'll also be joining Sugarland on their upcoming tour, starting in April.
