Lauren Alaina to Sing Anthem for NFL Thanksgiving Game

She'll kick off Turkey Day double-header at the Lions-Packers game.

Lauren Alaina will be part of a Thanksgiving Day tradition that draws millions of Americans to their televisions.

The American Idol runner-up will sing the national anthem for the annual Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day game. That game traditionally has been a turkey because the Lions haven't been so hot, but they are this year. And the Lions will be playing the equally hot Green Bay Packers,  so the matchup should draw more viewers than usual.

It's another feather in the cap for Lauren, who has had a pretty impressive start to her country career: Her first album, Wildflower, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard country albums chart recently.
