Lady Antebellum captured headlines going into the American Music Awards last night (Nov. 21) by tying with Eminem for most nominations at five.

The country group ended up capturing only one of five trophies, Favorite Band, Duo or Group in the country category.

“Thank y’all for inviting us to the party,” Lady A’s Charles Kelley said onstage.

Charles also may have had the group’s best moment of the night when Lady A presented soul/R&B male award to Usher.

“As a country band from Nashville, Tennessee,” Charles told the crowd, “if there’s one thing we know, it’s soul and R&B.”

Taylor Swift was named Favorite Female Artist in country music and turned in a performance of “Back to December” with straightened hair.

Elsewhere in the country category, Brad Paisley won Favorite Male Artist and Carrie Underwood won Favorite Album for Play On.
