Lady A Tops ACM Nominations

To say Lady Antebellum is on a roll might qualify as the understatement of the year. The trio of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood lead all comers with seven Academy of Country Music Award nominations, including Album of the Year for Lady Antebellum and Top Vocal Group. In recent weeks the group has scored a Grammy, a No. 1 album and an appearance on Oprah, among other accomplishments.

Pal Miranda Lambert is close behind with six nominations, including Album of the Year for Revolution and Top Female Vocalist, as is superstar Carrie Underwood, whose six nods include one for Entertainer of the Year. Underwood is the reigning ACM Entertainer, and, if she wins that category again, she will be the first female in Academy history to capture two Entertainer trophies.

Meanwhile. Taylor Swift is up for five awards, including her first nod for Entertainer of the Year, a title she currently holds from the rival Country Music Association. Kenny Chesney and Brad Paisley are both up for four awards, with each receiving a nod for Entertainer and Top Male Vocalist. Zac Brown Band is also up for four awards, including Entertainer, while group leader Zac Brown is up for two awards.

The Academy of Country Music/The Home Depot Humanitarian Award will be given to Montgomery Gentry for their ongoing community service and charitable giving of their time and talent.

Fans will choose the winners of the Entertainer of the Year and Top New Artist categories.

The ACM Awards will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 18. The show will air at 8:00 PM live ET/delayed PT on CBS-TV. Country Weekly will be there to give you live updates throughout the show.

Note: In some categories, an artist might receive more than one nomination—for example, one as artist and one as producer if the category recognizes both.
