Lady A Ties Eminem for Most AMA Noms

Lady Antebellum (2010-onstage)

Lady Antebellum captured five nominations yesterday for American Music Awards, the fan-voted show that most directly competes with the Grammys for TV viewers and buzz.

Lady A tied Eminem for most nominations with five. The nods for the country group include favorite pop/rock band. There, Lady A is up against The Black Eyed Peas and Train. Lady A also will battle Train and Canadian crooner Michael Bublé for favorite adult contemporary act.

The other country surprise is that Taylor Swift is only up for one award, favorite female country artist. Entertainment Weekly is one of several media outlets surprised that Taylor and Lady Gaga didn’t get the most noms.

Then again, the American Music Awards have been known for surprises, especially for country fans. You might recall that Gloriana upset Lady Gaga for the best new artist win last year.

ABC will broadcast the show from Los Angeles on Nov. 21.
