Kix Brooks is back from filming his part in the upcoming movie Thriftstore Cowboy, where the Brooks & Dunn veteran plays a bad guy.

Kix tells Country Weekly that he immediately shaved his mustache so that moviegoers could better distinguish his character from the country star. Shaving his mustache was such a significant change for Kix that he videotaped himself doing it and posted the clip on YouTube.

“It was weird. And it still is weird,” Kix said in a phone interview.

“I’m looking at myself in the mirror, going, ‘Who is that guy?’

“I just had to do something drastic to get away from Kix. This character really wasn’t that much like me personally.”

His wife, Barbara, had an interesting first reaction to her clean-lipped hubby: “I’m going and getting a blond wig.”
