Kenny Hits No. 1 on Country Album Chart

Kenny Chesney did not beat the album sales of rap stars Kanye West and 50 Cent, but he currently sits at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart.

Kenny’s latest CD, Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates, sold just under 387,000 copies in its first week. West’s Graduation and 50 Cent’s Curtis, both released on the same day as Kenny’s, held the first two spots on the Billboard Top 200, which covers all genres of music—Kenny’s album came in right behind at No. 3. The two rappers had been feuding over who would sell the most copies, but Kenny believed that he would be just as competitive in the sales race. “I think the music will do the talking for me in the long run,” Kenny says. “And I know that our albums tend to keep selling week after week after week. It’s amazing to be able to grow as an artist and take your audience with you.” Kenny already has two hit singles from the new album, “Never Wanted Nothing More” and “Don’t Blink.”
