Kenny was honored for the hit along with his co-writer, Brett James. Sporting a Boston Red Sox ball cap, Kenny told the overflow crowd that, “It’s real easy to be a songwriter when you write with Brett. He has meant a lot to me in my career, and my career would not be the same without him.” Brett also wrote Kenny’s hit, “When the Sun Goes Down.”
