You’d think a guy with a No Shoes vibe would ditch his footwear onstage more often.

But Kenny Chesney says he pulled off his first-ever mid-concert costume change—which ended with bare feet—on Wednesday night (Aug. 7) in Bangor, Maine.

Kenny also set a 2013 summer season record by drawing 15 noise complaints from neighbors of Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion, where shows usually get five to 10 noise complaints, local police said.

Maybe it was this costume change that had fans so fired up.

Kenny’s peeps say fans kept shouting for him to dress down (we’re guessing mostly lady fans?), so the country superstar left the stage and came back in swim trunks, T-shirt, a Boston Red Sox cap and bare feet.

“I may be the only person in history to come back dressed down,” Kenny said on his website.

“But that crowd was so alive and so ready to hang out,” he said. “If they didn’t have a curfew, we’d’ve probably started pounding covers and been up there ’til 1 o’clock in the morning.”
