KENNY, CARRIE COP AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS NODS

Kenny Chesney and Carrie Underwood are among the nominees for the 2006 American Music Awards, in announcements made Tues., Sept. 19.

Kenny picked up a nod for Favorite Male Artist in the Country category, along with Toby Keith and Keith Urban. Carrie and Rascal Flatts scored two nominations apiece to lead all country performers. Carrie is nominated in the all-genre category of Favorite New Breakthrough Artist and Favorite Female Artist in the Country category. Rascal Flatts is up in two Country categories––Favorite Band, Duo or Group as well as Favorite Album for Me and My Gang. The 2006 American Music Awards will be televised on ABC, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m. ET.
