A Big Star Competition will be held in 34 markets. Winning bands in each community will get the opportunity of a lifetime—to open for Kenny in their hometown. A grand prize winner will be given a tour bus for the final weekend of Kenny’s tour, where they will open all three shows in Tulsa, Okla., St. Louis and Indianapolis. The grand prize winner will also receive $25,000 and the chance to audition for executives at SonyBMG, Kenny’s record label. “I’ve been thinking about how to do this for a couple of years,” says Kenny. “People told me I was crazy, and logistically, it’s taken a whole lot of people to sort out just how to do it, to be fair and find local bands all over America who deserve the shot.”
