Kelly Digs at Kanye
American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson delivered a stinging criticism at Kanye West for his outburst at the MTV Video Music Awards, Sept. 13.
West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video, which Taylor had won for her video, “You Belong With Me.” Kanye West made an emotional appeal for pop singer Beyonce and her video, “Single Ladies.” Kelly Clarkson, who has won three MTV Video Music Awards, blasted Kanye’s actions on her IAmKelly blog. “Dear Kanye,” Kelly writes. “What happened to you as a child? Did you not get hugged enough? Something must have happened to make you this way and I think we’re all just curious as to what would make a grown man go on national television and make a talented artist, let alone teenager, feel like (crap).” Kelly went on to write that West wasn’t even eligible for the award, and yet still had a problem with the outcome. She finished with one last dig: “Taylor Swift, you outsell him. That’s why he’s bitter. You know I love your work! Keep it up, girl!” Kelly has a notable history with country music artists. She performed with Reba McEntire on the duet, “Because of You.” Kelly also sang with Rascal Flatts on the 2006 ACM Awards show and with Reba and Brooks & Dunn’s Ronnie Dunn at the 2008 Academy of Country Music Awards All-Star Jam.
