Kelly Clarkson Says Carrie Should Be Judge for American Idol

Popular Fox singing show has never had a past winner as a judge.

Here's a crazy thought about the next American Idol judge. What if the show got one of its past champions, one of the regular folk that the show turned into a superstar?

Kelly Clarkson, the first Idol winner, says no thanks. But Kelly is nominating Carrie Underwood as the perfect choice.

"She would! Didn't she major in journalism or something?" Kelly tells US Weekly.

"She can have that face . . . that bluff face! She can put that on! She would be good."

No reaction from Carrie yet.

Kelly just finished as one of four mentors on the debut season of ABC show Duets—and she says that's more her style, mentor and performer, instead of judge.
