Kellie Pickler Dances With Grandpa’s Favorite Stars
Grandpa Ken helps swing the vote.
It isn't the fancy costumes, the fun dances or even the handsome partner that swayed Kellie Pickler to compete on the next season of Dancing With the Stars. It was her grandpa Ken.
"He was eavesdropping on my phone conversation about doing the show and he told me that if I didn't do it, then I wasn't his favorite granddaughter anymore," Kellie tells Country Weekly. "Funny thing is, I'm his only granddaughter. I'm his only grandchild! It's his favorite show, though. I think he's more excited than anybody about it."
The country cutie is pretty excited, too, although her schedule is going to be pretty hectic. "I do have this little window of time that I can juggle this show and record a record," she says. "I’ll be bouncing from the recording studio to the dance studio. It’s going to be exhausting, but I can do it."
Kellie will be dancing with three-time mirrorball champion Derek Hough. This marks the third time that a country artist has appeared on the ABC hit competition show. Previously Billy Ray Cyrus, who was the seventh star voted off his season, and Sara Evans, who had to quit the show due to family issues, have competed. This year's lineup has a double-country whammy, though, since Wynonna Judd has also signed up to dance.
