Kellie Pickler Causes “an Uproar in the Ballroom”

Kellie Pickler’s pasodoble caused an all-out verbal war—swearing included—among the judges on Dancing With the Stars Monday night (May 6).

Judge Len Goodman stood up, shouted, pointed and verbally attacked fellow judge Bruno Tonioli while insisting Kellie’s dance was all flash, no substance.

And the crowd got into it, too, booing loudly and shouting after Len gave the dance a 7 while Bruno and Carrie Ann Inaba gave Kellie 10s.

“An uproar in the ballroom!” show co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet declared right afterward.

Afterward, Kellie told E! Entertainment, “It was like a tornado in there!”

The good news is that, even with Len’s 7, Kellie’s total score for her two dances was a 55, which put her in third place out of six dancers, and that should keep her safe from elimination.

Kellie’s first dance was a Viennese waltz, which she performed in memory of her grandmother, who passed away when Kellie was 15. Even Len liked that one, praising Kellie’s “lovely lyrical movements” and her “oceans of emotions.”

But Len insisted the pasodoble was all “flashing lights and crashing music.”

Rising from his seat, Len shouted, “Where’s the recognizable pasodoble?”

Kellie’s partner, Derek Hough, said afterward he wouldn’t play it safe next week.

Derek vowed to E! News, “We’ll make [Len] curse like you’ve never seen before on television.”

Kellie quickly added, “We’ll make him cuss happy cuss words!”
