Keith Urban’s Boston-Area Concert Results in Numerous Alcohol-Related Incidents
Dozens treated for illness, several arrested during Keith’s show at Xfinity Center.
Keith Urban is such a remarkable entertainer, you just wouldn’t want to miss a second of one of his shows. But that’s exactly what dozens did during his Saturday (July 26) show at Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Mass., near Boston.
The Associated Press reports that 46 people attending the show were treated for alcohol-related sickness. All told, 22 were transported to area hospitals and more than 50 were taken into protective custody, while several others were arrested for alcohol-related issues. More than 18,000 attended the show.
Alcohol consumption is an ongoing concern at summertime concerts as pre-show tailgating remains popular. Recently, a 22-year-old man disappeared during a Jason Aldean concert in Cleveland and was later found dead after he fell five stories down a garbage chute. The accident has been blamed on alleged intoxication.
Some venues, including Pittsburgh’s PNC Park, are placing restrictions on tailgating after parking lots have been trashed and arrests made before shows have started.
