Keith Urban Will Return to “American Idol”

Country star to retake his seat at judges’ table.

Good news for country music fans who also enjoy American Idol. This morning Fox Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly confirmed that Keith Urban will be returning as a judge on the singing competition. “Keith did a great job last year, the fans really liked him,” said Reilly, addressing reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills. Reilly hopes that when the new judging panel is set that viewers will be able to see more of Keith’s personality. “Keith’s a really funny guy,” said Reilly, who added, “You can see how much he loved the show. So Keith’s going to be back.”

Soon after Reilly’s announcement, Keith, who is currently on his Light the Fuse Tour with Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch, tweeted, “Thrilled to be back on @AmericanIdol with my pal @RyanSeacrest and dying to know who the other judges will be!!!!”

Reilly wouldn’t confirm who will be joining Keith at the judges’ table, but given how well Blake Shelton has done on The Voice, perhaps another judge from the country music world is in order?
