Keith Urban Surgery: “I Just Went a Little Hard on My Tour”

Country star explains upcoming surgery to remove polyp on his vocal cord.

Keith Urban talked about his upcoming vocal cord surgery for the first time with the Australia-based Kyle and Jackie O radio show on Nov. 17.

“I just went a little hard on my tour and got a polyp on my vocal cords. I’ve gotta have that taken off,” he said.

“At some point in the tour I bled into a vocal cord and this little polyp formed and it’s not going anywhere. We have to have it removed.”

Keith says he is hopeful that he’ll come through the surgery with no problems.

“I think it’s less dangerous now that it was before. . . . It’s not an uncommon thing and we’ve been seeing a lot of it recently.

“I think the technology has improved exponentially. The success of this kind of surgery is much greater than before. I’m hoping I continue that tradition.”
