Keith Urban to Mentor on American Idol?

Keith Urban is no stranger to the American Idol stage. He performed a duet of “Kiss a Girl” with last season’s winner, Kris Allen. Given the number of country artists that have coached the show’s contestants (including Shania Twain and Randy Travis), would Keith ever consider being a mentor on the show?

“That’s a tricky thing, because thought I think there’s a lot of things we can do to help younger artists avoid some of the things we’ve avoided,” Keith told CMT Radio Live. “It’s a delicate balance, where we don’t seem like we know it all. I think a lot of artists just need to find their own way, too, because there are no rules to any of it. That’s the thing. You just got to be yourself. I’d like to do it off camera. I think I’d be interested in doing that, but not on camera.”
