Keith Urban to Join Australia’s Version of The Voice

The show isn’t “consumed with the way people look but how they sound,” Keith tells Aussie newspaper.

The confirmationof the news came the good ol' fashioned way—on Twitter.

“Have you heard? Keith is going to be a judge and mentor on @TheVoiceAU!” Keith's Twitter feed trumpeted.

Media reports indicate Keith will be joined by Seal, rock band Good Charlotte's Joel Madden and Aussie singer Delta Goodrem as judges and mentors for Australia's version of The Voice, the NBC show that helped rocket Blake Shelton to a new level of fame.

Taping begins early next year.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Keith told Australia's The Daily Telegraph that he wanted to land the gig in part so that he and his wife, Nicole Kidman, could spend a few months in their native country.

"I hope it comes together—it would be good for all of us," he said.

He also told the newspaper that he liked The Voice because it wasn't "consumed with the way people look but how they sound."
