Keith Says Idol Auditions Are “My Kinda Crazy”

When he was young, Keith says, “I was sort of crucified by one judge. So I don’t know that I’ll ever be that guy.”

First, the rumors were that new American Idol judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj were feuding; then Mariah made a joke about it that had everyone laughing at a press conference.

In between, all four judges—including Keith Urban—heard bunches of auditions from singers of all different talent levels in New York City.

"My kinda crazy," Keith tweeted Tuesday (Sept. 18).

Before things started, Keith told a reporter that he want to be "authentic" but not cruel.

“I did similar shows when I was very young in Australia,” he told the Associated Press, “and I was sort of crucified by one judge. So I don’t know that I’ll ever be that guy.”

Randy Jackson, the only remaining original judge, says he's glad to see Keith on the panel.

"Keith Urban? My God, he’s unbelievably talented!” Randy said.
