Keith had been previously treated at Cumberland Heights in 1998 for a problem with cocaine after seeing his life spiral out of control. “I remember one night crawling around on my hands and knees . . . and I was drenched in sweat,” Keith recalled a few years later. “It was the worst.” Keith’s wife, actress Nicole Kidman, was by his side as he checked into the center. She has canceled several interviews for her upcoming movie Fur to stay with him. Keith has also canceled his concert dates and promotional appearances in conjunction with the release of his CD Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing, which hits stores on Nov. 7. His publicist adds that it is unlikely that Keith will appear on the CMA Awards telecast, Monday night, Nov. 6.
