Country fans came out in droves to support the film release of Pure Country in 1992, which featured George Strait as singer Dusty Chandler.

Now, newcomer Katrina Elam is getting her shot at stardom as she takes the lead role in Pure Country 2: The Gift, portraying an up-and-coming singer named Bobbie. Christopher Cain, who directed the original Pure Country, retains his role as director this time around.

George makes a cameo appearance in the movie, encouraging Bobbie before she takes the stage to perform.

Katrina’s songs have been covered by artists Carrie Underwood ("Flat on the Floor") and Reba McEntire ("I Want a Cowboy").
