Josh Turner Can Name That Tune in Two Notes

Singer says he can names most every song on country radio today—and do it within seconds.

OK, seriously, Josh Turner can name that tune in two notes.

"I've just been blessed with a country music brain," Josh tells ABC News Radio.

"When I'm listening to the radio, I kind of drive myself crazy. It's like from the first two notes I know who's going to be singing it," Josh says.

"I have trouble remembering the words, but I can remember the sound of it, the artist and all that kind of stuff. I can tell you all about the artist. But yeah, it's just the way my brain works."

And that's not just for songs on the radio. Josh also remembers deeper cuts on other artists' albums. And that has come in handy when Josh is being pitched by songwriters' reps. Sometimes he is asked to cut songs that have been recorded already.

"I would call them out on it," Josh says. "They were like, they'd start hitting the desk, 'Dadgumit. How'd you know that.'"

Josh's new album, Punching Bag, is out June 12.
