Josh Thompson “Turns It Up” With First New Album in Four Years

“I am so proud of the new music and where the road has led me between projects.”

This coming Tuesday (April 1), Josh Thompson’s highly anticipated new album, Turn It Up, will finally hit shelves. The collection of tunes is the first taste of new music from Josh in four years since releasing his Way Out Here album in 2010.

While the music business continued to evolve and change during those years, so did things for Josh, both professionally and personally. The proof will be found in Turn It Up, which he cannot wait for his fans to hear.

“There are a couple of differences [in this album compared to my first],” Josh explains to Country Weekly. “I didn’t write [the current single] ’Cold Beer With Your Name On It.’ It’s the only song I didn’t write or co-write, but I am so proud of the new music and where the road has led me between projects. It’s been a real natural progression. I think lyrically, it’s better, and sonically, it’s pounding!”

While Turn It Up is only Josh’s sophomore album, it marks his debut effort with new label home Show Dog-Universal Music. “I love the new label,” says Josh, beaming. “It’s great. I’ve known some people there just from being in Nashville, and it just feels more like a family than anything else. It almost feels kind of publishing family like where everybody knows each other. They get a lot of work done for the amount of artists they have. I’m amazed. It’s very personal and it’s very detailed. It’s fantastic. We’re fired up and they’re all really hard workers.”
