John Michael’s Accuser Files Additional Suit

The Lexington, Ky., police officer who sued John Michael Montgomery for making false allegations has also filed suit against the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, the city council and three police officers, reports the Lexington Herald-Leader newspaper.

Joshua Cromer, a Lexington police officer, filed the additional suit over the investigation of his handling of John Michael’s arrest for drunk driving in February of 2006. The suit alleges that the internal affairs investigation, which led to his dismissal from the department this year, violated, among others, his due process rights and Kentucky laws often referred to as the Police Officer Bill of Rights. Cromer’s lawsuit against John Michael alleges that the singer made false allegations in his interview with police after the arrest, including that Cromer stole his cowboy hat. John Michael and his attorneys have denied the allegations.
