The Feek and Martin families—as well as the wider country music community—are still grieving the death of Joey+Rory’s Joey Martin Feek after the 40-year-old singer passed away from cervical cancer March 4, but her husband and musical partner Rory Lee Feek already has plans to keep her legacy alive.

Speaking to People, Rory has revealed that Joey wanted him to keep creating, and he can think of no better way to honor her memory.

“She talked to me about how she wants me to continue to tell our story, and other stories,” Rory said. “This past spring I co-wrote and directed my first film, and she wants me to go on and continue writing and making more movies.”

Rory—a hit songwriter by trade—chronicled his wife’s harrowing journey in beautiful prose through his blog, This Life I Live, and also announced that he plans to write a book.

“She’s also encouraged me to write a book,” he said. “Joey and I have both experienced the power of living, and telling a great story, so I hope to be able to continue writing and being part of a great story.”

Rory hopes those future projects will help others in similar situations, but if nothing else they will give he and Joey’s 2-year-old daughter, Indiana, a way to connect with her mom.

“Without realizing I was doing it, God has allowed me to capture hours and hours of Joey and her life at home on the farm, raising Indiana and playing music,” he said. “I can’t help but believe that those clips will be an important part of keeping Joey’s memory alive in Indy’s heart.”
