JOE NICHOLS ADMITS DRUG PAST

Joe Nichols has confessed that he abused alcohol and amphetamines daily for about three years.

Joe says he reached his low point on Jan. 6, 2005, when he became frustrated that a delayed flight had kept him from reaching a planned appearance at an industry event in Steamboat Springs, Colo. “I had drunk a fifth and a half of Scotch and taken every pill I had in my pockets,” he tells People magazine. “I was screaming at everyone, incoherent, babbling. I don’t remember much.” Joe’s manager arranged for him to begin seeing a therapist immediately, and the once-a-day sessions helped the singer to clean up. Joe admits he still has an occasional drink, but says he no longer feels the urge to get “hammered.”
