Jo Dee Messina is expecting her first child, a boy, later this year, reports people.com.

Jo Dee, who has scored No.1 hits like “I’m Alright” and “Bring on the Rain,” recently celebrated her one-year wedding anniversary with husband Chris Deffenbaugh. “We knew we wanted to have kids, but we just said, ‘Whenever it happens, it happens.’ And it happened!” says Jo Dee. “I’ve gained about 11 pounds, which is good,” she adds. “I’m staying really fit. I run 30 minutes a day and weight train for an hour, five days a week.” The couple has painted the baby’s room, but has yet to go on any major shopping sprees.
