JIMMY WAYNE'S NEW SINGLE STRAIGHT FROM HIS HEART
Jimmy Wayne's new single, "Paper Angels," is based on the paper angels you see in the Salvation Army?s Angel Tree program, which places the name of a needy child on a paper angel, in hopes that someone will provide Christmas gifts for that child. For Jimmy, the song is deeply personal - because as a poor kid growing up in North Carolina, he was one of those names on paper angel. "As an adult, we always hear 'It's not what you get for Christmas that matters.' But to a kid - it does. After Santa said you'll get something if you behave and then you see your neighbors going around with new shoes...it's hard to explain that." Jimmy added that holidays like those tear down a kid's self-esteem and have a long term effect on children. He encourages everyone to participate in the Angel Tree Program. "One year I was at a mall and [saw] paper angels still hanging from the Angel Tree and it broke my heart because I was thinking, 'What's going to happen to these angels that aren't getting picked?' Now I'm on a mission to help as many kids as possible." To find out how you can help locally, log on to SalvationaArmyUSA.org.
