JIMMY OLANDER OUTRUNS THE TROOPS

During Diamond Rio's recent trip to Korea, guitarist Jimmy Olander had a chance to participate in a platoon run on a U.S. military base in Seoul.

Here's his account of his run with the troops : "Obviously, I don't look like I'm 20 years old," chuckles Jimmy. "So I get over there with this platoon of young guys. And this older sergeant—who's still not my age—says, 'Guys, this is Jimmy Olander of Diamond Rio, and he's gonna run with us.' Then he said, "And if you don't mind me asking sir, how old are you?" And I told him, 'Well, I'm 44.' He turned to the platoon and said, 'He's even older than I am, guys. Let's not kill him, but let's not make anybody look bad out here.' But let me tell you, I ate those guys for lunch!" exclaims Jimmy with amazement—although, in fairness, he did run with them after a long holiday weekend, and several of them may have spent the preceding four days hydrating less with water and more with alcohol. Either way, looks like all of Jimmy's training for Nashville's recent Country Music Marathon paid off!
