For her upcoming Greatest Hits album, due Feb. 5, Jewel polished up two past biggies with help from some famous friends.

Kelly Clarkson duets with Jewel on “Foolish Games,” while Miranda Lambert and the Pistol Annies harmonize on “You Were Meant for Me.”

“I got to do ‘Foolish Games’ with Kelly. It was amazing hearing her sing in person. It’s like watching a thoroughbred run. She has such a gifted voice. And the Pistol Annies I just love. Their harmonies are beautiful,” Jewel told Country Weekly on the red carpet prior to last night’s American Country Awards in Las Vegas, where she and her husband, rodeo champ Ty Murray, were presenting.

Jewel says she’s still deciding if either of the collaborations will be a good fit for country radio, especially “You Were Meant for Me.”

“It came out a little bit alternative rock and roll. It’s a country song, a shuffle, so you’d think it’d come out all country, but it ended up edgier and darker. It’s real moody,” Jewel said. “But I have two brand-new songs, which might go to radio. I just haven’t figured it out yet."

Jewel and Ty also shared the latest on their son, Kase Townes.

“He’s 17 months. It feels like every night he goes to bed, he grows six months. Not in size, but in maturity and what he understands,” proud father Ty said. “It’s going to make Christmas really fun this year, because he’s at that age where he’s all ears on everything.”

In fact, the couple’s visit to Las Vegas for the ACAs was their first extended time away from their little one.

“You don’t realize until you become a parent, the pull of a child. This is really the first time that both of us have been away,” Ty said.

“At the same time,” added Jewel, who revealed that Kase Townes likes her guitar and loves to sing. “But whatever he does is fine with us, though.”

Which just might include working on the couple’s ranch in Stephenville, Texas, where stalls always need cleaning.

With a laugh, the hardworking Jewel says, “I look forward to that!”
