Jewel to Host Texaco Country Showdown

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Jewel will assume hosting duties for the finals of the Texaco Country Showdown, Thursday night, Jan. 17, at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

Jewel will host the annual talent competition for the first time, taking over from LeAnn Rimes, who has hosted the past several years.

The Texaco Country Showdown bills itself as America's Largest Country Music Talent Search. One lucky contestant from a group of five finalists will be named the competition winner, judged by a panel of industry professionals.

The Showdown final is free and open to the public. More details, including the list of finalists, are available on their website.
