Jewel Gives “Ring of Fire” Preview

Singer/songwriter Jewel will be stepping up to the acting world when she stars as June Carter Cash in the Lifetime TV movie Ring of Fire.

Friday night, April 5, Jewel gave a brief sneak peek of the film during her show at the Orleans Showroom and Casino in Las Vegas during ACM Awards week. As part of the ACM Experience, Jewel talked to invited guests about the influence that June and her husband, Johnny Cash, had on country music. She also shared anecdotes about the making of the movie and how she prepared for the role while balancing being a new mom.

Jewel revealed that she did wear dentures during the filming. “I was smiling like a beauty queen in the mirror because I had never seen myself with straight teeth!” she quipped. Among those enjoying Jewel’s stories were Reba McEntire, Kelly Clarkson and Kix Brooks.

During her show, John Carter Cash, the son of Johnny and June, took the stage to join Jewel in a performance of “Storms Are on the Ocean.” Jewel also sang “Wildflower” and “My Father’s Daughter.”
