Jett Williams Arrested on DUI Charges

Daughter of Hank Williams charged in Tennessee.

Jett Williams, the daughter of country music legend Hank Williams Sr., was arrested Tuesday morning (Feb. 25) on charges of driving under the influence. Jett, a performer herself, was reportedly swerving between lanes in her 1998 Jaguar when Lebanon [Tenn.] police stopped her at around 2:30 a.m.

Jett, whose full name is Jett Williams Atkinson, admitted to drinking two beers and was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which she failed. She was placed under arrest and issued additional citations for not wearing a seat belt and having no proof of insurance.

Jett was born out of a relationship between Hank Sr. and a woman named Bobbie Jett, whom he never married. Her birth in Montgomery, Ala., took place five days after her father’s death on Jan. 1, 1953. In a 1985 landmark case, the Alabama State Court ruled that she was the daughter of Hank Williams Sr. In 1990, Jett published her autobiography, Ain't Nothin' as Sweet as My Baby.
