“I don’t know that I see Keith really telling somebody if they were terrible,” Jason Aldean says.

Jason Aldean says Keith Urban would be a great judge for American Idol.

A great judge, and a nice judge.

"Keith's just a nice guy. I don't know that I see Keith really telling somebody if they were terrible that they sucked," Jason told reporters Wednesday (Sept. 5) after landing a nom for Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year.

"He's definitely not going to be Simon Cowell. He's too much of a nice guy for that. But like I said, I think he's a great dude, and I think obviously he'll do a great job."

At least two media outlets have reported that Keith is very close to finalizing a deal with Idol producers to be a judge. But Keith himself has stayed quiet on the possibility.

Jason also likes Keith as a judge because Keith's the total package.

"Keith's a great singer, but he's also a great entertainer. He's a great musician in general," Jason said. "So, I think he's a guy that can look at it from kind of all aspects."
